What is reflexology?

Foot reflexology is a non-intrusive complementary health therapy. It is based on the theory and practice of working reflexes on both feet, lower leg, hands, face or ears, that correspond with glands organs and other parts of your body.

There are over 7,000 nerve endings in each foot which have interconnections through the spinal cord and brain and to all areas of your body. Which explains why we feel so much better after a Reflexology treatment.

With specific thumb, finger and hand techniques, reflexology provides stimulation and causes a response in the corresponding parts of your body.

Reflexology is not just a foot massage.  Massage involves manipulation of soft tissue and muscle, Reflexology stimulates the nerve pathways.

Reflexology has been shown to be effective for:

  • relaxation

  • de-stressing

  • boosting the immune system

  • migraine

  • arthritis

  • relief from depression, anxiety, post-traumatic
    stress disorder

  • back Pain

  • digestive Disorders, Constipation

  • sports Injuries

  • plantar Fasciitis

  • sleeping Difficulties

  • improved blood flow

  • easier birthing/delivery/post-partum recovery

  • complementary to cancer care

You’ll feel the immediate benefits even after just one session and regular reflexology treatments have shown to provide incredibly positive results. The reflexologist can provide you with a treatment that will relax and energise, all the same time.

Reflexology can benefit people of all ages and depending on the length of time a condition has been present, can improve or eliminate many ailments during a course of four to six weekly treatments.

Reflexologists do not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.

What to expect from a reflexology session:

  • In the first session, we will discuss your lifestyle and symptoms, your needs and expectations as well as reflexology in general terms.  This will all help to give a fuller picture about you as a person not just as a set of symptoms.  Everything we discuss is confidential.

  • Where possible I use organic creams and oils.

  • How your body reacts to its first reflexology session varies from person to person.  I encourage all clients to drink plenty of water after a reflexology session, better to sip constantly for the rest of the day rather then knock back one large drink.

  • Some people feel cold immediately afterwards, while others feel deep relaxation or sometimes an overwhelming need to sleep. I suggest that new clients keep the agenda free, or at least not too busy, after your first session.
